“Look closely at a crack in the wall and it might as well be the Grand Canyon.”

Robert Smithson

Brooke McCulloch is an artist from Colorado. She grew up just south of Denver near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Inspired by the stratification of the Front Range, she took an early interest in geology and elements of nature that create repeating or random patterns.

Brooke studied painting at Seattle University and lived in Seattle, Washington for ten years where she spent countless hours on the waters of Lake Union, Lake Washington, and the Puget Sound. Here she matched her love of geology with a love for moving elements of the natural landscape.

Through her artistic practices, Brooke explores the intersections between pattern and texture, time and movement. Through painting and drawing, she mixes method and media to create abstractions of experience and design.
